Dhauli (Peace Pagoda, India) 17 Feb 2014: It was the concluding day at the 10th Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha and Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar. Reverberating the gospel of peace and rejuvenating the nuances of Odissi, Folk tradition and Martial Arts the valedictory evening was really a splendid one leaving the connoisseurs mesmerized.
The programme started with Gotipua dance through a traditional music called Kalasi Upare Aamba Dalia by the students of Orissa Dance Academy followed by a stunning performance of Bandha Nrutya exhibiting extraordinary skill and talent much to the joy and ecstasy of the audience. The second programme of the evening was Kathak by the Guru Smt.Rajashree Shirke and troupe from Lasya Dance Academy, Mumbai. His dance showcased the traditional nuances elegantly manifested in the Abhinaya Rutu Srungara.
The next programme was Odissi dance by the students of Orissa Dance Academy performed Konark Lasya Leela, a pure dance based on varied rhythms depicting the sculpturesque posses of magnificent Konark Temple to the music composed by Guru Ramahari Das and dance choreogrphed by Guru Aruna Mohanty.
The concluding item of the concluding evening was a spectacular martial art Mallakhamb performed by the artists of Fate Fighter organization of Puri. The gymnastic performances with a vertical wooden pole and rope by the artistes stunned the audience.
The Guests of the evening were Dr. Pariyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Foremer Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur University; Dr. Minati Mishra, Eminent Danseuse and former Principal, Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya; Guru Ramhari Das, Eminent Musician and Former Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre; Shri Basanta Mohapatra, Vice Chancellor, Bharat Vidya Bhawan; Shri Utpal Kumar Pati, Deputy Director, Tourism; Dr. Leela Venkataraman, Noted Dance Critic and Guru Aruna Mohanty, Orissa Dance Academy. The programme was compered by Er. Srinivas Ghatuari and Rahul Acharya.
