Bhubaneswar, 26th June, 2016 (OdishaLIVE Bureau): Veteran writer Mohapatra Nilamani Sahoo, who was popular for his style, wit, and humor, passed away at the age of 90. He was suffering from Cancer and was admitted in a private hospital of Bhubaneswar. He was born in 1926 at Niali, Cuttack

He served as President of Odisha Sahitya Academy and was the Chief Editor of “Utkal Prasanga” & “Odisha Review” and he also edited many important books and magazines.
Mohapatra Nilamani Sahoo was an eminent litterateur, a well known columnist, educationist he was also former Principal of BJB college of Bhubaneswar. Nilamani Sahu received a number of awards, laurels including Kendra Sahitya Academy for his story collection “Abhispta Gandhrba”, Odisha Sahitya Academy for his story collection “Akasha Patala”. He also received prestigious “Sarala Award” for his contribution towards Odia language & literature. Among his books “Sumitra ra Hasa”, “Tamasi Radha”, “Prema O Tribhuja”, “Ranu Apa Tharu Pusi Parjyanta”, “Andha Ratira Surjiya” are very popular story collections.
