Bhubaneswar, 6th September2016 (OdishaLIVE Bureau): The second day of GKCM Award Festival was showcasing the beautiful blend of elegance, purity, precision and aesthetics of Bharatnatyam presented by eminent Guru Satyanarayan Raju and melodious, essence and spirit in Sitar play by Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan.
The evening’s first programme started with invocatory piece of Ram Katha, journey in to the life and relationship of Rama in Bharatnatyam Dance by Guru Satyanarayan Raju. His thematic presentation had to portray multiple characters switching from one to the other instantly, keeping the essence of each character intact and displaying all this with verve. She has been accompanied on vocal by D S Srivatsa, on Nattuvangam by Shakuntala Prabhath, on Mridangam by Lingarajau and on Flute by Raghunandan.
The second programme of the evening was renowned Sitar player Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan accompanied by Mukesh Jadhav noted Tablist, presented different musical notes with melody in Rag-Charukeshi set to Tal-Rupak, Drut-Tintal, Madhyallaya-Ektal, Gat-Allap, Jood, Jhala and Gat, etc. His composition and improvisation of the essence and spirit of Rag with syllables and song-phrases were orchestrated flawlessly which engrossed the music lovers who enjoyed the programme till the end.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Former Member of Board of Revenue, Smt. Leela Venkataraman, Dane Critic, S. K. Tamotia, Dean, Bharat Vidya Bhawan and Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, Director, Srjan. The programme was compered by Er. Srinivas Ghatuari and Najia Allam.
