dsc_2395_n1Bhubaneswar, 24th September 2016 (OdishaLIVE Bureau): Odisha CSR Forum, a leading organization engaged in promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the State has organised a ‘Symposium on ‘Start up India, Stand up India’ on September 24, 2016 at Bhubaneswar. On the occasion the Forum also awarded eight leading Companies in Odisha for their outstanding CSR work.

Odisha’s Finance & Public Enterprises Minister Mr. Pradip Kumar Amat presented the award to the representatives of respective Companies, which were selected by a jury board. The minister welcomed the Forum’s move to honour successful CSR work in the State.

In the inaugural session of the Programm,   Editor of leading media House the Sambad Mr. Soumya Ranjan Patnaik was present as Chief Guest. Amongst others the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Mr. Prashant Kumar Hota, Executive Director of OCL India, Rajganpur Mr. Ganesh W. Jirkuntwar, and Convenor of the Forum Mr. BK Mishra were present on the occasion.

Mr Patnaik in his inaugural addressed emphasised the need for focus on Development of Health & Education as the priority for Odisha and its Next generation.

This was followed by separate discussion on the theme of ‘Start up India & Stand up India’ in which EVP & Group Head (Infra) of SBI Capital Markets Ltd, Mumbai Mr. Supratim Sarkar, Director, EDII, Ahmadabad Dr.  Sunil Sukla, Director General, IED, Odisha Sri Samarendra Sahu, IES, and Former HOD IR & PM, Berhampur University Prof (Dr.) Guru Charan Patra shared their ideas on the Topic. MD & CEO of Milk Mantra Mr. Sri Kumar Mishra and MD and Co-founder Tatwa Technologies Mr. A.K. Mohanty were felicitated as successful start up of the State.

In the second technical session on Partnership, GM (CSR) of TCS, Bhubaneswar Mrs Priya S Mahapatra, Programme Officer- Skills of COL, New Delhi Ms Sanjogita Mishra, Head- CSR of Tata Sponge and Iron Ltd Mr S.C. Roy, and Associate Professor, IMI Bhubaneswar Dr. Supriti Mishra, discussed about the importance of partnership and togetherness in CSR.  Principal of CVRP Mr. Niranjan Mishra Chaired the session & Mr Sukant Pattnaik, Head of CSR of Indian Rare Earth summed up.

The winner of CSR Excellence Award were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd for Best CSR Practices, the Utkal Alumina International Limited, Rayagada for Sustainable Livelihood and Primary Education, IFFCO, Paradeep for Green Environment and Pollution Control Thriveni Earth Movers for Skill Development and Women Empowerment GMR Kamalanga Energy for water Supply and Sanitation, OCL India Ltd., Rajgangpur for Community Development, JK Paper Mills for Sustainable Livelihood and Aditya Aluminium, Sambalpur for Women Empowerment activities.

These Eight Companies were chosen by a Jury consisting of Former MD, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Mr. P.K. Mishra, Former ED, HAL Mr. K.C. Nanda and Former HOD, CSR Rourkela Steel Plant Mr S.N. Patro.

Representative of leading corporate organisations, NGOs, academic institutions and government attended this programme. The Minister, Guests from Odisha & Outside highly appreciated the initiative of Mr Brajendra Mishra, the Head of Odisha CSR Forum. EVP Bansidhar Illa Panda Foundation Mr. TC Hota   gave the vote of thanks.
