Bhubaneswar, 23rd September 2016 (OdishaLIVE Bureau): To commemorate 80 years of formation of Odisha state the Non-Resident Odias from different parts of United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined at a grand cultural fest called ‘Odisha Festival’. The event staged at Emirates Theatres, Dubai, recently was anchored by Odia Society of UAE, a flagship organization of Odia population living overseas.

The function gained overwhelming response with the presence of Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, who inaugurated the program. The unnamedevening was filled-up with an ambience of pure devotion with Shri Jagannath Bandana by Gajapati Maharaj and the a rendition by veteran Odissi music exponent Guru Ramahari Das.

Following a graceful Odissi Dance performance Gajapati Maharaj transfused the atmosphere with divine energy as he spoke on Lord Jagannath and the origin of the temple with reference to ‘Skanda Purana’. A book written by the Gajapati on traditions of Lord Jagannath was released at the occasion.

The Odias of UAE, led by eminent Indian resident Dr. B.R. Shetty and Dr. Chandra Sekhar Khuntia, Chairman organizing committee, felicitated Gajapati Maharaj.

A visiting cultural troupe from Odisha mesmerized the audience with scintillating Odissi Dance, Sambalpuri and Folk Dance, Odissi Music and Rhythms. Veterans like Guru Ramahari Das, Guru Dhaneswar Swain and Guru Niranjan Rout were the key attractionsunnamed10 at the cultural program.

Similarly there was an enchanting lineup of performances by local artists and children who presented Odissi Dance, Sambalpuri and a dance-drama showcasing various festivals of Odisha.

Over 800 audiences were attended the occasion. Apart from Odia people many Indian families hailing from other parts of India joined the program and enjoyed the diversified and brilliant face of Odishan art and culture.
