UCCI in continuation of a series of events on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee year celebration organized the exhibition under the banner “Odisha Moves Forward” to showcase the phenomenal development the state has made within these years.

A souvenir representing the journey of the Chamber was also released to mark 50 golden years of UCCI.
“Odisha has a heritage of trade and commerce for the past 3 thousand years and we are abundantly blessed with all the resources we need yet we are paradoxically the poorest of the poor “, said Mr. Damodar Rout in his address going elaborating the state’s trade and commercial history. “The state has great MSME feasibility as to provide the raw materials to the large scale industries. If the major corporate houses cooperate, Odisha can have significant development in the MSME sector.”, he further added.
Mr. Ramesh Mahapatra, President, Utkal Chamber, welcomed the guests to the dais. In his welcome address he said, “Utkal Chamber this year will find vendors for the MSME sector and with consistent efforts the state will be a mirror to other states”.
Guest of Honor, Mr. Rajeev Dube, Director, Group Corporate Services, Aditya Birla Group said, “we already have investments close to 25 thousand crores in the state and we look forward to invest much more”. “Despite the challenges the growth of the state cannot be argued upon and there is no reason why it could not be the next Australia of India”, he further added.
Mr. Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust said, “the growth rate of the port is 25% as compared to -2.5% last year. The port is now ranked 2nd as compared to 6th in major port trusts of India”. Expressing his concern over the time wasted in clearance of the planned projects, he said, “we should start speaking about the holy cow of environmental issues which has become a bottle neck for industrial growth in the state, especially the requirement of a timeline to asses and clear the projects.”
Mr. Debabrata Dash, Secretary, Utkal Chamber, thanked all the guests and participants and informed that the Chamber has been playing the role of an accelerator in the growth of trades and industries in the state especially through its members. Thus the celebration of 50 golden years of the Chamber is nothing but a part of the golden history of industrial growth of the state, he added.
