“I hope Gopalpur would be a model port in the near future like that of Paradip”, said Mr. Ramesh Chandra Majhi, while inaugurating the event. He shared that the capacity of Gopalpur port is 9 million tons per annum and 19 berths are proposed in port. The minister further said that, 13 such places have got the potential to be built as ports in state. “The state government has signed MoU for establishing two more ports at Subarnarekha creek in Balasore and Astarang in Puri. But it is delayed as a case is pending in the Odisha High Court and we would go ahead soon after the case is vacated”, he added.
