Enterprise Odisha 2013 is Accelerating Odisha’s Economic Growth through Innovation, Transformation and effective implementation.
Bhubaneswar, 21 November 2013: On the eve of the 18th edition of CII Enterprise Odisha, a press meet has been taken place at Hotel Swasti. This press conference was chaired by Mr. Mahendra Kumar Gupta, Chairman CII Odisha State Council. Mr. Saugat Mukharjee, Regional Director- CII Eastern Region and Ms. Suparna Nanda, CII Head -Odisha State Office, graced the occasion.
The Odisha Industry is going places with excellent industrial infrastructure and presence of top national and international companies. The state has witnessed an industrial upsurge due to the favorable industrial atmosphere in the state. The state government of Odisha has invited major industrial houses of the country and abroad to invest in the state. It has achieved a considerable amount of success and several prime companies have set up their plants in the state.
Odisha occupies an important position both in terms of deposit and production of many minerals. Vast and diverse mineral deposits of iron ore, coal and aluminium make Odisha one of the largest minerals bearing States in the country. The steel plants in Odisha are greatly responsible for the industrial boom that the state has witnessed in the recent past. The significance of small scale industries, agro food processing industries and other ancillary & downstream industries like handloom and handicrafts cannot be overlooked as they contribute a considerable amount of revenue to the state’s economy.
The era of industrialisation has begun since long, but the sudden boom of investment was witnessed since late nineties and early twenties. Industry was always known as the prime parameter of growth and development for the globe as a whole. Enterprise series was initiated from 1995 by CII eastern region with active support of the state government to provide a common platform to showcase, connect and educate the civil society about their contribution of industries to boost the economy, employment, skill development and lifestyle of people around it. Thus an Enterprise show symbolizes prosperity, growth and development of the state through industrialisation.
Enterprise Odisha 2013, an initiative by the Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Government of Odisha, has come to epitomize the State’s epic journey from virtual nowhere to a place of pre-eminence in the industrial space. First held in 1995, the show has evolved to a status of esteem repute in the last eighteen years. Enterprise Odisha enjoys the support of major corporate houses and governmental institutions in the state. From last several years, Enterprise Odisha has facilitated the exhibitors to generate new customers and strengthen their relationships with old ones.

The key objectives of this annual flagship event are:

- To help forge a connect with civil society
- To connect with State and Central Government officials and Corporations.
- To create a space for product launching
This year Enterprise Odisha spread over 10000 sqm with more than 200 stalls and over 100 Exhibitors. Enterprise Odisha 2013 has provided free stalls to SC/ST Micro Entrepreneurs to showcase their products and be globally competitive. It has also provided stalls at subsidized rates to Ancillary and Downstream Industries.
Enterprise Odisha has come to be seen as a powerful platform to share ideas and visions, network, connect and also showcase the process of industrialisation in the state. This year there will be seven special pavilions by the Department of Information Technology, Directorate of Industries, Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Banking, Nabard, SIBDI and Directorate of Handicraft.
Connecting MSME is a prime agenda this year, so there will be concurrent sessions on Vendor Connect, Financial Knots with Banks and ICT-SME.
Vendor Connect – The objective of this seminar is to provide a common platform for buying as well as selling organizations to interact with each other with a view to identifying emerging demands of the buyer organizations while simultaneously providing an opportunity for displaying the capabilities of the small scale entrepreneurs and their industrial ventures. The seminar will also act as a platform for the large scale companies to disseminate information about their requirements to the intended MSME Vendors.
In this regard, CII Odisha State Council has compiled A Vendor Empanelment Booklet which has all the details of the MSME Units. The booklet will be distributed to all large scale industries as an effort to link the Small Scale Industries to the Large Scale Industries.
Seminar on Empowering SMEs through ICT intervention. The objective of this seminar is to help SMEs transition to and benefit from the modern IT. This Seminar will bring all key stakeholders under one roof and provide a platform for the SMEs to interact with the ICT service providers and understand the products and services which can enhance competitiveness, productivity and business prospects and global outreach. Participation in this seminar will add tremendous value to the SMEs by understanding how IT solutions can enhance their productivity and market reach many fold. IT Giants like Microsoft, Office 365, Airtel Business and many more have been invited to educate local MSMEs on the importance of usage of IT and make them globally competitive.
Innovex 2013 – A Talent competition for Innovative ideas has been organized wherein Diploma and ITI Students have displayed their creative models that can be adapted by the industry in their day to day activities.
