Bhubaneswar, 17th April, 2016: The birth centenary of legendary leader Biju Patnaik is being celebrated this year. Other than being a visionary, statesman, industrialist, pilot and politician, Biju Patnaik was a connoisseur of good food. Dalma, the chain of restaurants serving tasteful Odia cuisine, is organizing a special food festival in the memory of Biju babu from 17th to 24th of this month.

Biju Patnaik always enjoyed and loved food. Be it the large prawns and Hilsas or the popular Odia fish Pohala, he enjoyed them thoroughly. It’s needless to say that he was fond of the Odia cuisines ‘Enduri’, ‘Chakuli Pithas’ and ‘Rasaballis’.

Another favourite of the great leader was the Sukhuaa or the dried fish, mostly Hilsa and Khaeenga, from the Banapur, Chilika.

Dalma has attempted to present some of the favourite dishes of the great leader to the people of Odisha, at the Food Festival. Some of the favourites of Biju babu like, Prawn masala fry, Fried Chicken, Pomfret Mustard Fry, Hilsa Jhol, Fish Cutlet, Mutton Chop, Sukhuaa Fry along with Egg Masala, Caramel Custard (popularly known in Odisha as pudding),Pohala Jhol, Rasaballi etc. are being presented for the guests to relish.

This festival was inaugurated today morning by Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister Tourism and Culture, in presence of Shri Bijay K Mohanty, MLA (Bhubaneswar Central), Shri Priyadaarshi Mishra MLA (Bhubaneswar North) and Shri Anant Narayan Jena, Mayor, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
