CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurates 18th. CII Enterprise Odisha 2013

DSC_3890Mr Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha inaugurated the 18th edition of CII Enterprise Odisha, the largest industrial exhibition of Odsiha, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Government of Odisha, on the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

 Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated CII for organizing Enterprise Odisha since last 18 years to showcase the inherent strength and potential of the state. He stated that over the years Odisha has become one of the most favourable investment destination in the country. The state government is coming up with a host of new policy namely, MSME Policy, ICT Policy and Youth Policy besides others which will further boost the overall growth and development in the state.

 DSC_3933More than 100 companies have put up stalls over an area of approximately 10000 square metres in the current edition of Enterprise Odisha which is expected to draw more than 50,000 visitors over the next four days.

Mr Sudhir Deoras, Chairman, CII Eastern Region, thanked the Odisha Government for the support and cooperation it has extended in organizing Enterprise Odisha. He particularly congratulated Mr Naveen Patnaik on his “dynamic leadership and the investor-friendly government policies” his government has adopted to attract investments.

DSC_3986 “It is our common goal to transform Odisha into a vibrant industrialised state, to enhance the share of industries in State Gross Domestic Product and to promote orderly and environmentally sustainable industrial growth,” said Mr Deoras, who is also the Managing Director of TRF Ltd.

“Almost in every perceivable sector, Odisha attracts the attention of investors the world over. A whopping US$50 billion is expected to be invested in the state for building steel and aluminum producing capacity, power projects, ports, and other infrastructure. If things go as planned, Odisha could emerge as one of the most significant FDI destinations in the world. We firmly believe that the state has the potential to grow into a vibrant economy on the back of agriculture, industry and services sectors,” Mr Deoras added.

Mr Viresh Oberoi, Deputy Chairman, CII Eastern Region, also explained how Enterprise Odisha has grown into a B2B and B2C forum created to showcase and promote Odisha’s enormous potential to the rest of the country and beyond.

“Enterprise Odisha is a tribute to the State’s epic journey towards growth and development. Over the years CII has been working towards promotion and development of MSMEs. The basic approach is to form a cluster for MSMEs and help them grow together with a learning-through-sharing motto,” Mr Oberoi said.

Mr M K Gupta, Chairman, CII Odisha State Council, congratulated the Chief Minister on the “excellent work” the state Government did before and after the Cyclone “Phailin” had hit the coastal areas of Odisha and also when the subsequent floods had inundated 17 districts in the state.

Mr Gupta detailed the objectives of Enterprise Odisha and how dedicatedly it is promoting synergistic alliances between all stakeholders. “With all major corporate houses and government institutions lending support and taking part, Enterprise Odisha has evolved into one of the biggest industrial shows in the state,” he said in his welcome address.

Dr Prasanna Patsani, Member of Parliament, Mr Parag Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Odisha, were also present.

Mr Rajesh Jha, Vice Chairman, CII Odisha State Council delivered the vote of thanks, while Dr Saugat Mukherjee, Regional Director, CII Rastern Region, was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony also saw the unveiling of CII Endeavour, a CII Report on Bell Metal Craft Industry in Balasore and a Vendor Connect Booklet.

Over the past 18 years, Enterprise Odisha has grown into a powerful platform showcasing products, connecting businesses and educating civil society about the role industries play in creating jobs and boosting economies. One of the major focus of Enterprise Odisha 2013 is on MSMEs. Enterprise Odisha 2013 will have two concurrent sessions on Vendor Connect and ICT for MSMEs to help MSMEs connect with the larger manufacturing and IT giants of the country. The primary objective of the “Vendor Connect” would be to showcase the procurement demand of large companies belonging to different sectors in the state for the benefit of the vendors operating or having interest in the respective sectoral spaces.

Enterprise Odisha 2013 will also have a special pavilion for MSME companies belonging to the IT space in the state. There would also be a dedicated pavilion on Technical Education and Training.
