SAI-MUN 2014 takes off at SAI International School
Bhubaneswar, 25 July 2014: The second edition of the Eastern India’s biggest International Model United Nations Conference was declared open on July 25, 2014 at the SAI International School campus, Bhubaneswar.
The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister for Industries and Department of School & Mass Education; Government of Odisha. Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA, Bhubaneswar-North and Shri Vishal Dev, Secretary, Industries Dept. and CMD, IDCO, Government of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.
The three day conference with the theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”- ‘One World, One Family’ is been held to debate and discuss issues of Global concern for which intervention of the future leaders is of paramount importance.
While inauguration Shri Debi Prasad Mishra expressed happiness on knowing that 15 different nations and more than 450 delegates from various schools are participating in the international conference. He also congratulated and applauded SAI International School for the achievements and accolades that it has earned in a very short span of time.
Priyadarshi Mishra congratulated SAI International School for organizing an International Summit in the city of Bhubaneswar. He urged the participating delegates to work towards bringing in change in the political scenario of the world.
“You are the future leaders of tomorrow and as the issues become more pressing, the nation will call upon you for solutions”, said Shri Vishal Dev, while addressing the gathering at the inaugural session of the SAI MUN. He also stated that SAIMUN is a phenomenal concept that brings together people of various diversities on a common platform to find out solutions of the issues concerning the world.
Dr. Bijoy Kumar Sahoo, Chairman, SAI International School, said, “I take pride in hosting the summit of International stature that aims to bring a dynamic change in the thought process of the students by widening their horizon and giving them a chance to learn about global issues by the way of researching, reading, deliberating, discussing and negotiating.” He welcomed the 25 International delegates and said “I take pleasure in inviting out international guests who will bring in a whole new dimension to this conference.”
SAI International MUN is indeed bestowed with special distinction for it is a registered event of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) which has got International delegates of 12 countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Bangladesh, China, Singapore, USA, UAE, Russia, Morocco and many more.
The seven committees of the MUN, will be discussing on various issues like the Global LGBT rights, Violation of human rights for combating illegal immigration, the 7 day war, Necessity of and risk factors involved in the trade of genetically modified organisms, Intellectual Property Rights etc.
Mr. Harish Sanduja, Principal, SAI International School addressed the gathering and took them through the journey of the school over the last seven years. The SAIMUN inauguration event was also attended by the Trustee Smt. Silpi Sahoo, Sr. Vice-Principal Shri Nilakantha Panigrahi, Vice-Principal Secondary Smt. Rinku Sarangi and Vice-Principal Primary Smt. Rashmi Pandey along with other faculty and staff members of the school.
