Bhubaneswar, 08th April, 2016: God’s Own People, a documentary film on Nabakalebara, saw an exclusive launch, today at INOX, Bhubaneswar. The 78 minute feature length documentary has been directed by Padmashree Nila Madhab Panda in association with Akshay Parija Productions and is presented by Odisha Tourism Department.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor SC Jamir and First lady also graced the occasion. The Chief Minister after viewing the 18 minute cut version of the documentary. He congratulated Nila Madhab Panda and others who were associated in its making for the documentary.
“The documentary has been made to showcase the rare ritual of Nabakalebara that takes place every nineteen years. It has captured moments during the sacred Nabakalebara and explores ideas of anticipation, love, longing, separation, faith and surrender to God. God’s Own People shall be screened at various national and international film festivals and the full length feature shall be released worldwide in a few months’ time”, said Nila Madhab Panda.
The launch screening was attended by Excise Minister Damodar Rout, Urban Development Minister Pushpendu Singhdeo, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, I&PR Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Law minister ArunSahoo, Tourism Minister Ashok Panda, Supply Minister Sanjay Das Burma, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das, Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi, MLA Akash Das Nayak, DGP Odisha Police KV Singh, DG Vigilance RP Sharma, MSME & Tourism Principal Secretary Gagan Dhal and KIIT & KIIS founder Achyuta Samanta were also present on the occasion.
