Ila Panda honor for FolK Artist Bhimshen Satpathy & Painter D.N Rao
Today the 36th prestigious Sarala Award was confeered on eminent Odia writer Shri Manoj Panda for his Story book “Maya Bagicha” from eminent Hindi writer Ms Mridula Garg. In this noted ceremony, eminent Daskathia artist Shri Bhimsen Satapathy and famous painter Mr DN Rao have been honoured with the first ever instituted ‘Ila Panda Samman’ in recognition of traditional performing and fine art of Odisha. Mr Panda received the honour with the prize money of Rs 5 lacs while both the artists getting Ila Panda Samman got Rs 1.5 lacs each.
Addressing an erudite gathering, the chief Guest Ms Mridula Garg said that talent is always detached from the mundane connections and a writer always stages a protest over powered by conscience. Although the writer himself undergoes through the agony and frustrations encountered by a common maified and expected n, she or he stages a moral revolution in the typical way as found dignified under the guardianship of the protagonists of the contemporary era. Ms Garg said that the writer immerses himself in the flow in which the creation gets glorified.
At the beginning of the award ceremony floral tribute was paid in honour of Maa Sarala and the founder late Ila Panda. The Trustee Smt Paramita Mohapatra gave the welcome address and greeted the award winner, dignitaries and lovers of literature , Secretary of the Trust Prof Rajkishore Mishra presented the report while the working president Prof Shantanu Kumar Acharya depicted about the uniqueness of Sarala Award. The programme was anchored Sr PRO of IMFA Ms Itishree Devi. The function was graced by eminent writers, educationists and critics. This famous award has been instituted by eminent industrialist Mr Banshidhar Panda and his wife late Ila Panda in the year 1980.
